baby grey’s baptism

I believe one of the sweetest day’s in a new baby’s life is their baptism day. A special outfit is carefully chosen, either a family heirloom, an outfit passed down from daddy, mommy or a grandparent, or a new outfit is bought with the thought in mind that one day it could be passed down to their child. The feeling of this special garment is gentle and loving. Placing a child in this garment for their baptism feels like they are being wrapped in God’s arms.  This day calls for much celebration and the beginning of a child’s journey with God. More traditions follow such as selecting the godparents and inviting the family to come and witness this sacrament.  I was ecstatic when one of my best friends, Megan, asked me to help with the baptism reception for their new little man, Grey. Megan already had an idea for the color scheme, a bright turquoise and coral-orange, and white -a baptismal tradition. Soon after, I came across the perfect little treat boxes on Pick Your Plum in turquoise and coral. The baptism was in mid-September and the weather was amazing. It’s always nice when the weather cooperates and makes it easy for guests to be inside and out. Megan and Nick have a beautiful home so it was a great backdrop for all the decor. We had a table set up in their kitchen for the cupcakes and treats, a small table on the deck outside and some extras set up on their dining room table. Megan has her home decorated with several beautiful portraits of the two boys and they complimented the decor nicely. Megan selected a simple but delectable menu of mini sandwiches, fried chicken, pasta salad, fruit & veggie tray, cheese & cracker tray & rolls. Sometimes it can be hard for a host/hostess to come up with a menu. My suggestion is to keep it simple if this task is not your forte.

Now for the details, I’ll start with the main sweets table or the ‘blessed’ table spread…

Well I think that covers most of the details of the day. Most importantly, I think the family was able to enjoy this occasion without the stress of getting everything ready. Such a sweet party for a sweet baby Grey.

Does your family participate in similar traditions? Would love to hear how this type of religious celebration is held across your families. Leave me a note to share yours…
